We are extremely proud to announce that in February 2019, following a three day review, we were awarded Autism Accreditation Advanced status by a panel of experts from the National Autistic Society. This is an internationally recognised standard that confirms that the school provides a high level of consistent practice that benefits the learning and achievement of pupils who have autism. The award means that parents and Local Authorities can be confident about our provision because the high standard of good practice has been accredited by an external agency.
Here are some of our areas of strength that have been noted and commented on during inspections:
- The Senior Management Team demonstrate a passionate commitment to achieving best practice in supporting autistic pupils.
- Staff show a practical knowledge and understanding of the need to visually mediate spoken instructions and to ensure that autistic pupils are provided with tools to enable them to express themselves.
- Parents comment favourably on staff knowledge and understanding of autism. The assessment team observed staff as highly skilled and consistent in their approaches.
- There is a strong focus within the school on monitoring and evaluating pupil outcomes in order to inform practice.
