The Friends of Woodlands is a registered charity (Charity Number: 1116958). We are very committed to raising vital funds for Woodlands School so that the pupils who attend can receive the very best education. The Friends of Woodlands is a group of dedicated and motivated parents and staff, who give up some of their time to run the charity and raise funds for the school. They have regular meetings (virtual and in person) across the school year to discuss new and tried ideas to raise much needed funds and to plan and host events in line with the school’s calendar.
All children attending Woodlands School have special educational needs and find it very difficult to learn many of things we take for granted such as important safety skills, communication and social and independence skills. Our basic offer to families is funded by the Harrow Local Authority, but we need to fundraise to ensure that we can provide more.
We are always looking for new ways to fundraise and for people to help us. If you or anyone you know has an interest in supporting us to raise money, we would very much like you to get in touch. We are actively looking for people with ideas and a passion for supporting our very special children.
We are currently urgently fundraising for £25,000 to replace one of the school buses.
The school buses are used daily to transport the children to vital activities such as forest school, swimming and horse-riding as well as cross school programmes in the wider community. Owing to the complexities of the children, the minibuses are an essential tool to access the community and activities such as specialised horse riding, Forest school and trips to support the learning programmes. Unfortunately, due to ULEZ restrictions and compliance, one of our current fleet of three buses will no longer be in use from 2027. The current cost of replacing this bus is estimated to be £25,000 in addition to a grant from the variety club. As we continue to support this essential daily need of the school and children. This is an enormous cost within a short period of time, sadly the cost to the children will be greater if we do not manage to reach our target.
We need your help to reach this target. We would welcome any donations towards these essential facilities. Without the buses the impact on the children will be immediate as not all children will be able to be involved in activities, we must continue to ensure that all the children have equal opportunities to access the wider community. We would very much appreciate any contribution small or large to this huge undertaking ahead of us.
